Most of my encounters with police occurred during my first 1.5 years of car living when I had no other way to learn about the material in chapter 10 except through personal experience. Ten years later, I presently average about one police encounter per year.
My encounters with police have mainly occurred during the night while parking at high risk locations. Some of these nighttime encounters occurred when officers on routine patrol came upon my somewhat suspiciously parked car; a few have occurred because of concerned citizens reporting my suspiciously parked car to the police. Most of my police encounters could easily have been avoided had I chosen a less risky parking location, possibly being just a bit further away. However, I have had several unexpected police encounters while parking at low risk locations where I thought an encounter wouldn't have occurred.
It is critical that one know how to effectively deal with police during an encounter, so as to prevent from being ticketed or even arrested. The information in Chapter 12 + 10 will be invaluable to anyone who desires to secretly live/work inside a "privatized" car.
